Thank you Coach Cornell Ward and Rick Ross.

Thank you Coach Cornell Ward and Rick Ross.

Saturday we had 2 very special guest speakers talk to the players, Coach Cornell Ward and Rick Ross. Coach Cornell Ward works with Pete Carroll’s foundation A Better LA. Coach Ward impressed on the players to listen to their Mother, Father and Coaches. They are all there to help you make the right choices in life. Also good kids can make wrong decisions. Rick Ross is a good person that made a lot of bad decisions. Known simply as “Freeway Rick,” Rick started out as a poor, illiterate, high school dropout from South Central Los Angeles and a talented tennis player. By 1984, “Freeway Rick” was a drug kingpin, with over a dozen crack houses in South Central. Now after 21 years in prison he has taught himself to read and write. He also became a lawyer while he was in prison. He is one of those rare figures whose experiences with a drug kingpin has lead him to a life of rebuilding the community in which he once helped destroy.

“Talk about empowering? These two men just made a huge impact in these young boys’ lives! I’m forever grateful for the words and inspiration they gave these kids.”
